Palms West Alliance Church has signed onto the South Florida Healthy Marriage Initiative. The divorce rate in Palm Beach County is an astounding 62.4%. In order to provide support for marriages in hopes of significantly reducing this rate, the Palm Beach County Healthy Marriage Initiative has been launched. The purpose of this initiative is to promote a Biblical model of marriage through spiritually healthy families by preparing couples for marriage, providing opportunities for marriage enrichment, & identifying solutions for restoration.

In the coming months, Palms West Alliance Church will provide training to raise up mentor couples within our congregation. Marriage Mentoring is a couple-to-couple relationship that seeks to help others live out their vision for marriage and equip them for a fulfilling, lifelong covenant. Mentor couples will be trained to help other couples assess major relationship categories, such as finances, communication, conflict resolution and parenting. To qualify, each mentor couple must be married for at least ten years, receive the in-depth training that will be provided, and be passionate about helping couples.

As part of the Palm Beach County Healthy Marriage Initiative, we agree to the following:

1. We will promote a healthy and biblical model of marriage.
2. We will require a minimum of 4 months of preparation.
3. We will promote sexual abstinence outside of marriage.
4. We will present the negative impact of cohabitation on marriage.
5. We will require a minimum of 4 premarital sessions (scripture & assessment).
6. We will enrich existing marriages with marriage enrichment opportunities.
7. We will offer courses to reconcile the separated or abandoned.
8. We will enlist, train, and equip Marriage Mentors for engaged couples, newlyweds, and those experiencing marital difficulties.
9. We will create Stepfamily Support Groups to provide a place of prayer, encouragement and hope to stepfamilies.
10. We will partner with other congregations and organizations to share resources and create a positive climate in which marriages can thrive.
