Brandon Orr is the leader of our Youth Group, The Acacia Project. Brandon,  along with his wife Christina, and the rest of an awesome team of youth sponsors, have recently revamped our Student Ministries and put together a fresh ministry vision for middle and high school youth.

The Acacia Project of Palms West Alliance Church is a youth ministry dedicated to providing a safe place for students to come and encounter the Almighty God who created the heavens and the earth; be transformed by that encounter and learn to share that encounter through discipleship and evangelism.

So what is the Acacia Project? The Acacia Tree is an African tree common to the desert and is also found in Middle Eastern countries. The Acacia wood is the type of wood that the Ark of the Covenant was made out of. This Ark represented the presence of the Lord among the Israelites and was housed in the temple. The New Testament says (1 Cor 6:19) that we (our bodies) are the temple of the Lord and He dwells within us. Also the symbol of a tree comes from the first Psalm which describes those that meditate on the Law of the Lord being like trees planted next to a river, with roots that run deep and plush foliage. This is our desire at The Acacia Project: to be deeply rooted in the Word of God and to meditate on it day and night and to remember that we, who are saved by the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, are the temple of the Lord.
